On July 23, 2018, the Congress of the Philippines enacted a law establishing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This “organic law” allows for the promulgation of an autonomous Muslim government in Bangsamoro, Mindanao, and establishes the BARMM as the only Muslim-majority autonomous region in the Philippines.
